The Tales of Hoffmann

An opera by Offenbach is made into a movie. In it, a young poet named Hoffman thinks about how his relationships have failed. First, his love for the beautiful Olympia is broken when he learns that she is actually a mechanical woman made by a scientist. It turns out the prostitute was hired by the evil Dapertutto to make him think she was in love with him. Finally, a magic spell takes the life of his last lover.
