The Sweet Hereafter

A small Canadian mountain hamlet is devastated after a school bus tragedy claims the lives of more than a dozen of its children. A lawyer from a large city arrives to assist the victims' and survivors' families in preparing a class-action lawsuit, but his efforts only appear to drive a wedge between the town's residents. Simultaneously, one adolescent survivor of the accident must deal with the loss of innocence brought on by a different type of injury.
