In this riveting two-character drama, which is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning play of the same name by Cormac McCarthy, humor and pathos are mixed together to examine the bond between strangers who are pulled together by desperate circumstances. An ex-convict black man who is highly religious saves a white college professor from jumping in front of an incoming subway train, 'The Sunset Limited,' in a New York City tenement apartment. While one strives to connect with the other on a cognitive, spiritual, and emotional level, the other remains steady in his well-deserved misery. In the midst of a philosophical dispute, both participants strongly defend their personal beliefs and attempt to persuade the other to their way of thinking.
