The Square

One of Jehane Noujaim's latest films, "The Square," examines the day-to-day struggles of those attempting to establish a new democratic government in Egypt. It takes us on a journey that spans 2011 and2012, bringing us face-to-face with the people who were fighting for their lives. The film's central setting is Cairo's Tahrir Square, where we follow a group of teenage protestors. Even though Hosni Mubarek's downfall marked the beginning of Egypt's journey toward democratic rule, they know that the road to freedom would not be an easy one. The struggle for survival between the people and the state's authority continues.
