The Shootout

The Shootout is an early-nineties action comedy starring numerous Hong Kong film stars from the past and present. Popstar Aaron Kwok plays Fai, a young, inexperienced cop who unintentionally arrests a member of a thieving gang. However, Fai loses his cool when the gang's ruthless boss (Elvis Tsui) infiltrates Police Headquarters to assassinate his own buddy! Fortunately, the officers bring in two "professional" cops, Lau (Sean Lau Ching Wan) and Ma (Leung Ka Yan), to help them catch the evil guys. Min (Fennie Yuen), the club singer Fai is attracted to as well as the girlfriend of the main bad guy, is assisting them in their investigation. The officers reassemble in time for a violent finish thanks to excellent police work and perhaps a little luck. Gritty violence and fun, over-the-top action dominate The Shootout, but it's the charismatic cast and quick-witted humour that make things engaging.
