The Running Man

By 2017, the global economy had collapsed, and American society had devolved into a totalitarian police state that censored all cultural activity. The government appeases the public by airing a number of game shows in which convicted criminals fight for their lives, such as the gladiator-style The Running Man, hosted by the ruthless Damon Killian, in which "runners" attempt to avoid "stalkers" and certain death in exchange for a chance to be pardoned and set free.
