In the film, Ben (Glenn Ford) and Marion (Henry Fonda) are two cowboys who work for a pittance breaking wild Their boss Jim (Chill Wills) pushes them into taking a dull horse in lieu of some pay. Since the horse is unrideable, Ben decides to take it to a rodeo and bet other cowhands they can't ride it.
