The Reader
The story of Michael Berg, a German lawyer who had an affair with an older woman, Hanna, when he was a teenager in the late 1950s. Hanna then disappeared, but she came back years later as one of the people on trial for war crimes because of what she did as a guard at a concentration camp at the end of the war. He is the only one who knows that Hanna can't read or write and may be hiding that fact to keep her freedom.
