Summer 1998: The Tour de France's opening stages are relocated to Ireland. Dom Chabol (late 30s), a Belgian rider, has been one of the Tour's best "Domestiques" (support riders) for the last 20 years. It's a selfless role, setting the pace, blocking the wind, and assisting the team's sprinter to victory – winning is not an option. Dom, on the other hand, secretly wishes to wear the yellow jersey once more before his career is over. Dom is unceremoniously dropped from the Team to which he has dedicated his life at the start of what will most likely be his final Tour. Sonny, his best friend and team masseur, fails to reassure him about his future. However, a chance encounter with Lynn, a young Irish doctor, softens the blow, and Dom begins to accept – and even enjoy – the idea of civilian life. But, as he prepares to return home and face his estranged sister, another teammate is knocked off the Tour by a massive doping error, and Dom is thrown back into the saddle...
