The Onion Field

Greg Powell, a damaged ex-con, partners up with Jimmy Youngblood (Smith), a petty crook. Powell panics when the two of them are pulled over by two cops for failing to maintain proper tail lights. Powell intends to kidnap the cops, and Smith agrees to help him out. They travel to an abandoned onion field in Bakersfield, where one cop is assassinated and the other flees. The documentary examines the ramifications.
