Arthur Bishop is a veteran hit man who considers himself an artist because of his proclivity for making the deaths of his victims appear to be the result of natural causes. Steve McKenna, one of the sons of one of his victims, has become his apprentice because he is so depressed and lonely as he approaches middle life. After a long training period, Arthur takes him on a series of hits. Arthur is becoming increasingly concerned that Steven may learn who killed his father.
