Justin McLeod, a former teacher, lives as a recluse on the outskirts of town after his face was damaged in a car accident ten years ago in which a youngster was killed—and for which he was convicted of involuntary manslaughter. He is befriended by Chuck, who is also suspected of being a paedophile, igniting the town's suspicions and enmity.
