Freezing the patient is one component of Dr. Leon Kravaal's investigational treatment for cancer, which he believes may be effective. But things go awry when the authorities assume that Kravaal has killed one of the patients in the experiment. The officials, as well as Kravaal himself, are placed in a state of suspended animation. Years later, they are found and brought back to life in the hopes that Kravaal will finally be able to finish his treatment. But the avarice and frailty of human beings combined to derail the endeavor.
