Paul Crewe, a professional quarterback, and Nate Scarboro, a former college champion and coach, are both doing time in the same prison. Crewe is asked to put together a team of inmates to play against the guards. He asks Scarboro to help him coach the inmates to win a football game that was "fixed" to go in a different direction.
