Sonny and Duane, two high school seniors and best friends, live in a decaying Texas town with their parents. Sonny is having an affair with the coach's wife, Ruth, while the attractive Duane is in a relationship with a local beauty, Jacy. As graduation approaches, both brothers begin to think about their futures. Duane considers joining the army while Sonny takes over the family business. Each boy is trying to find out how he can get out of this dead-end town and start a new life somewhere else.
