The Last Man on the Moon

When it came to the United States, the 1960s were amazing years. Americans, free of the burden of post-war reparations, were obsessed with other achievements, such as NASA, the game-changing space program that put Neil Armstrong on the surface of the moon. However, it was astronauts such as Eugene Cernan who laid the groundwork for the rocky and risky road that led to lunar exploration. He was recruited together with 14 other guys in a covert process that saw them become the closest of friends and the most dangerous of foes. He was a test pilot who loved to court danger. With NASA's final lunar mission, Cernan was one of just three men to be flown to the moon twice in this extremely competitive atmosphere, and his second trip also happened to be the agency's final lunar mission. When he reflects back on the things he loved and lost throughout his eight years in Houston, he realizes that he has lived an incomparably colorful life. Director Mark Craig has crafted a softly epic biography that combines the unique knowledge of the surviving former astronauts with historical material and strange moonscapes to create a quietly epic experience for the audience.
