A group of five distinct weirdo criminals rent a two-room apartment from an octogenarian widow with three pet parrots in an old house on a London cul-de-sac. Professor Marcus, the group's mastermind, informs her that they are members of an amateur string quintet and would like to utilize the rooms to practice their music. In truth, they are planning to rob an armored bank van and intend to take advantage of Mrs. Wilberforce's naiveté and Victorian sensibilities.
