Scott Carey gets inadvertently exposed to a radioactive cloud while on a boating excursion. In the beginning, Scott does not notice anything unusual, but a few months later he notices that he has shrunk by several inches. When he goes to the doctor, the doctor admits he's stumped. Scott's bitterness grows as he shrinks to just three feet tall, and he attacks his wife, Louise.
