Anders Olsen conducts an investigation into a bank robbery in which a bandit shoots two bank staffers and flees into the streets of Copenhagen with the money. He claimed to have committed the crime alone when apprehended. According to other witnesses, the thief appeared to be in a trance, complicating and peculiarifying the situation even further. Olsen learns that the accused was imprisoned with the charismatic Björn Schow Nielsen and suspects that Nielsen seduced his fellow inmate into doing the crime for him. However, is this even possible –and if so, how can the true perpetrator be apprehended? Olsen seeks assistance from a renowned psychiatrist with expertise in hypnosis, with whom he digs deeper into the field of mental manipulation. Olsen is so preoccupied with the criminal inquiry that he is unaware that the enigmatic Nielsen has befriended his young wife in secret.
