The Green Park
More than 40 years ago, the Green Park Hotel on England's southern coast drew a steady stream of Jewish immigrants. When it opened, it was a European counterpart to the resorts in the Catskill Mountains, a place to see and be seen where the only thing better than its immaculate service was its almost limitless selection of gourmet kosher cuisine. Matchmaking grounds for generations of young lovers, many of whom returned with their families years later, were also found here. Recollections, photos, and home movies from former guests and employees paint a picture of a time when life was simpler, brighter, and more successful. Green Park is a more than just a time capsule of a historic hotel; it's also a sincere monument to the Anglo-Jewish community's cultural roots.
