When Sinuhe, a poor orphan, grows up to become a great doctor, he and his friend Horemheb are chosen to serve the new Pharaoh. Sinuhe's personal triumphs and tragedies are played out against the backdrop of the turbulent events of the 18th dynasty, which was a time of great upheaval for the country.
