The Cranes Are Flying

Veronika and Boris meet in Moscow soon before World War II. As they walk along the river, they observe flying cranes and agree to meet again before Boris leaves to battle. Boris misses the meeting and heads to the front lines, but Veronika patiently waits and sends letters. After her home is blasted, Veronika goes in with Boris's family, joining a cousin with his own agenda.
