The Color of Friendship

Mahree Bok is a South African farmer who lives on a farm. Her father works as a police officer, and he can't keep the glee in his voice when protester Steve Biko is apprehended by South African authorities. In addition to being the daughter of a US congressman from California, Piper Dellums also happens to live in a luxurious mansion in Washington DC. When Mahree is selected to spend a semester at the Dellums' home, she is surprised to learn that her host family is comprised entirely of African-Americans. Her hosts are also completely unaware that she is not a black South African.
