Young Bruno makes friends with Shmuel, a youngster who lives on the other side of the fence where everyone appears to be wearing striped pajamas, after his family moves from their home in Berlin to a strange new house in Poland. Bruno, who has no idea what will happen to Shmuel as a Jewish prisoner or what part his own Nazi father will play in his incarceration, sets out on a perilous voyage behind the walls of the camp.
