Icon of horror Lord George Jeffreys is played by Christopher Lee, who has previously collaborated with Jess Franco on a number of projects. Jeffreys is an infamous and brutal judge and Lord Chancellor in an England torn by civil war between the ruling King James II and William of Orange. Convinced that doing what is necessary is the right thing to do, the harsh judge mercilessly persecutes 'traitors,' who sympathize with the King's opponent William of Orange, as well as 'witches,' who are accused of conspiring with the devil.
