Alex Greville, a recently divorced professional woman, initiates a love engagement with gorgeous mod artist Bob Elkin, unaware that he is simultaneously involved in an intimate relationship with middle-aged doctor Daniel Hirsh. Both Alex and Daniel perceive the younger man as a break from their repressive pasts, and despite the fact that they are both aware that Bob is seeing both of them, neither is prepared to give up the youth and vigor he gives to their otherwise solid lives.
