Bernard Rougerie, a successful writer/director, is stuck in a creative rut and resolves to separate himself from his wife in order to finish the script for his next picture. Bernard moves into an apartment complex where the tenants are revolting against their harsh owner. He reluctantly joins their cause and subsequently falls embroiled in a romance with young, unemployed local Anne.
