According to the plot, the story follows a line of inbreds who suffer from a genetic illness known as "Merrye syndrome," after the family from which the disorder first emerged. At the age of10, victims of this disease enter a state of age regression that lasts the rest of their lives, giving them the mental capacity of a kid. The final generation of the family has been given to the care of the family chauffeur (Lon Chaney Jr.), and all is good until a greedy branch of the family decides that they want to relieve the family of its home. Horror movies are fascinated by mental illness because it digs into the unknown, and Spider Baby makes the finest use of this reality.
