The dystopian worlds of CHILDREN OF MEN and DISTRICT 13 are brought to London's East 17 in Mo Ali's future knife-crime drama. SHANK presents a harsh image of future urban life, in which knives have replaced guns and are passionately wielded by idle teenagers. The Paper Chazers gang, a rare socially conscious organization that trades scavenged food for money, is amidst the pandemonium. Junior (Kedar Williams-Stirling), a Chazers gang member, must decide whether to seek retribution or follow the group's moral code after witnessing his brother's death... Present-day societal issues and dark city streets create a wonderful canvas for imagination and action in this superbly paced and artistic film.
