Dewey Finn, a guitarist and vocalist fired from his band and in need of money, swindles his way into a job as a fifth-grade substitute teacher at a private school, where he surreptitiously begins teaching his children the finer principles of rock 'n' roll. The school's hard-nosed principal is correct to be skeptical of Finn's activities. But Finn's roommate is still unaware of what he's up to.
