Santa Sangre
A young man is being held captive at a mental institution. By looking back at some of his earliest memories, we learn that his family's circus career left him scarred. He witnessed, as an infant, as a religious fanatic and the leader of Santa Sangre ("Holy Blood") church, cut off his mother's arms and subsequently commit suicide. Returning to the present, he manages to elude capture and reunite with his mother, who is still alive but without an arm.
