Samurai III: Duel at Ganryu Island

Takezo, a humble and simple man, decides to forego his life as a knight errant. Shogun, Japan's most powerful clan leader, desires him as a teacher and vassal. He is also challenged to battle by Sasaki Kojiro, who is incredibly confident and skilled. Takezo agrees to fight Kojiro in a year, but refuses the Shogun's patronage, preferring to live on the outskirts of a village and raise vegetables. He is followed there by Otsu and afterwards by Akemi, both of whom are head over heels in love with him. Takezo concludes the year by assisting the villagers in their fight against a band of brigands. He begs forgiveness from Otsu and accepts her love before sailing across the sea to Ganryu Island for his final competition.
