Hollywood is in 1958. Marla Mabrey, a Baptist virgin from a small village and Howard Hughes's contract beauty queen, comes in Los Angeles. At the airport, she meets her driver, Frank Forbes, a profoundly pious Methodist who is engaged to his seventh-grade girlfriend. In addition to putting their religious beliefs to the test, their initial attraction violates Hughes' number one rule: no employee is permitted to have any kind of connection with a contract actress. As Marla and Frank are lured deeper into Hughes's odd world, their morals are put to the test and their lives are altered as a result of Hughes's behavior.
