Royal Shakespeare Company: Cymbeline

The United Kingdom is in a state of emergency. A divided dystopian Britain is ruled by a powerless Queen Cymbeline. Cymbeline's judgment is impaired due to her sadness over the deaths of her two children. Cymbeline exiles Posthumus after Innogen, the sole surviving heir, secretly marries her sweetheart. A power-hungry individual intends to steal the kingdom by assassinating the king and queen. In an act of irrational jealousy, Innogen's husband, who is in exile, devises a plan to have her assassinated after being duped into believing she has been unfaithful. Innogen, forewarned of the danger, flees the court in disguise and embarks on a perilous voyage that reunites Cymbeline with a long-lost heir and reconciles the young lovers.
