Fear, mistrust, and institutionalized police corruption are running amok in Yorkshire in 1974. Eddie Dunford, an inexperienced journalist, is desperate to uncover the truth in the increasingly complicated labyrinth of lies and treachery surrounding the police investigation into a series of child abductions. Eddie and his colleague Barry persuade their editor to allow them to examine links between the disappearance of Clare Kemplay and two similar abductions in the past decade. Eddie and Barry are lured into a dangerous world of secrecy, intimidation, shocking disclosures, and police violence when a mutilated body is discovered on a building site owned by a local property mogul.
