Postcards from the Edge

Suzanne Vale, a substance-dependent Hollywood actress, is on the decline. Her film company requires, as a condition of continuing to employ her, that she reside with her mother Doris Mann, a former star who is now a champion alcoholic. Suzanne, who has tried for years to emerge from her mother's shadow, finds that her mother still treats her as if she were a child. Suzanne begins to recognize the humor in her predicament despite these and other issues involving the men in her life, and she also begins to realize that not only daughters but also moms have mothers.
