Pain and Glory

Salvador Mallo, a director nearing the end of his career, recalls his life: his mother, his loves, and the actors with whom he collaborated. The 1960s in a small village in Valencia, the 1980s in Madrid, and now, when he faces his mortality, the inability to continue filming, and the impossibility of separating creation from his own life, he feels an immeasurable emptiness. The necessity of recounting his past may prove to be his rescue.
