Pacific Rim
When Kaiju, sea monsters, began rising from the depths of the ocean, a war broke out that would last for years and claim the lives of millions of people. Massive robots, known as Jaegers, were created to confront the Kaiju, which are controlled by two pilots whose brains are bound in a mental bridge. However, even the Jaegers are unable to stand up to the Kaiju. Charlie Hunnam and Rinko Kikuchi, a washed-up former pilot and an untrained trainee, are partnered up to operate a famed but seemingly antiquated Jaeger from the past when the forces defending humanity are on the edge of defeat. In tandem, they represent humanity's last hope against the looming doomsday.
