Mio is a slacker in high school. She spends her after-school days in Ikebukuro with her childhood pal Arata and best friend Madoka. Madoka tells Mio one day that she loves Arata, and Mio realizes that she, too, loves Arata. But she is afraid of their relationship failing and lies, stating she will assist them. Mio purposefully treats Arata coldly, and they fight. She decides to reconcile with Arata, but is involved in a vehicle accident on her way to meet him. She awakens in a strange world.
