Childhood friends Josh and Molly accidentally agree to stage a wedding engagement on a journey home to Chicago for Josh's ailing father's funeral. The plan is discovered when the couple is stranded in the middle of the plane's cabin. Because of their two loud families, things quickly spiral out of control, and a sequence of unfortunate situations prompts them to pose as a couple and begin making preparations for a bogus wedding. The two must face some difficult decisions when their playacting begins to elicit genuine feelings between them. Should they split up and return to their separate lives in Los Angeles, or should they stay together and start a new life in Chicago as a couple?
