On the Beach
Nuclear war wipes all civilization in the northern hemisphere in 1964; an American submarine seeks temporary refuge in Australia, where life goes on as usual. Captain Towers encounters the careworn but lovely Moira Davidson, who begins to fall for him. A month (or less) before the end, the sub returns for recon; will Towers and Moira find solace?
