In the Iron Age, a dark cloud hung over a small, isolated town. People in the village have been taking young people from their families and giving them to a mythical creature called the Minotaur, which lives under a big palace. Because he lost his love in an earlier sacrifice, Theo is afraid that the beast isn't real and that his girl still lives as a slave in the palace. His father, Cyrnan, the village leader, tries to talk Theo out of leaving, but Theo is driven by rage. He comes up with a plan and is taken with the other young people who are being taken away from their families.
