Brenda, a single mother in Chicago's inner city, has been fighting for years to make ends meet and keep her three children off the streets. But when she is unexpectedly laid off, she begins to lose hope for the first time - until a letter arrives informing her of the death of a father she has never known. Brenda travels her family to Georgia for the funeral, desperate for any form of assistance. Nothing, however, could have prepared her for the Browns, her father's rowdy, obnoxious Southern clan. Brenda fights to come to know the family she never knew she had...and discovers a whole new romance that could change her life in a small-town world full of lazy afternoons and county fairs. Tyler Perry adapted the plot from his stage production "Meet the Browns." Madea and Uncle Joe will be played by Perry in the film.
