Max and the Junkmen
Max is an aloof, independently rich Parisian investigator who is upset by his inability to apprehend gangs of criminals. To regain his reputation and preserve his dignity, he decides to recruit a squad of small thieves (headed by an old acquaintance) to heist a bank. Max begins spending evenings with Lilly, the group's leader's girlfriend and a prostitute. Max receives intelligence from a recalcitrant commander, and begins to date Lilly. He pushes Lilly to consider her future while posing as a wealthy banker flush with cash. He implies about a payroll that comes via his bank. The plan succeeds, the small thieves believe they're prepared for a large score, and the police are in position. How could Max's strategy fail? Who is caught?
