Lean on Pete
He is a teenager who lives with his father and works for Del Montgomery, a horse trainer, as a part-time job this summer. Charley bonds with an old racehorse named Lean on Pete. When he learns that the horse is going to be slaughtered, he steals the horse and goes on a journey across the new American frontier with it.
