Le Samouraï
Alain Delon plays Jef Costello, a contract killer with samurai instincts. After a perfectly planned hit, Jef is caught between a police detective and a vicious employer. Not even his fedora and trench coat can protect him. Elegantly stylized by maverick director Jean-Pierre Melville, Le samoura is a razor-sharp concoction of 1940s American gangster cinema and 1960s French pop culture, with a hefty dosage of Japanese lone-warrior legend.
