Laughing Under the Clouds

To combat the rising crime rates of the new era, the Gokumonjou, an impenetrable jail, was built in the center of a huge lake. The famed Kumou brothers, Tenka, Soramaru, and Chuutarou, are the ferrymen. Despite their grim occupation, the three live happily in Oumi, with their housekeeper Shirasu Kinjou. The terrifying "Orochi," a serpentine beast that emerges every three hundred years in a human vessel, is hidden in Oumi's lengthy history. The Kumou family's true mission is to seal the Orochi away before it fully revives, or the world would be destroyed. The Kumou family must persevere in the face of the monster's resurrected appearance.
