Thomas Dunn has lost faith as a result of the death of his little daughter. His life has come crashing down around him, and his self-assurance has been shaken. However, when he wakes up on this day, he discovers that Mandy, his devoted wife, is pregnant for the second time. Perhaps this is their chance to move on from their previous tragedy and for him to rediscover his faith. A massive extraterrestrial mother-ship also appears in the heavens on this day, and the inhabitants of Earth are immediately tortured with visions of the end of civilisation. As the mother-ship sends out a vast alien fleet to assault Earth's villages and cities, Tom and Mandy are separated. Tom must search deep within himself for not only his faith, but also the knowledge and strength to preserve humanity from the evils that threaten them.
