Following the death of her father-in-law as well as a divorce, Jesse, a New Yorker, relocates to a small town to live with her now-widowed mother-in-law, who has since died. Despite her best efforts, Jesse finds it difficult to blend in with the locals, who don't exactly welcome her with open arms. During her stay, Jesse meets and falls in love with the local pastor, who happens to be her widower brother-in-law. The entire community is shocked by her decision. Things become much more complicated when her ex-husband contacts her, ostensibly in an attempt to reclaim her affections. Because of her complicated love life and her complicated in-laws, Jesse is put to the test as she searches for the answer to the question of where she truly belongs.
