Hoop Dreams
Every school day, William Gates and Arthur Agee commute 90 minutes each way from Chicago's inner city to St. Joseph High School in Westchester, Illinois, a predominantly white suburban high school renowned for its excellent basketball team. With the assistance of their close-knit families, Gates and Agee overcome the social and physical challenges that stand in their way in order to achieve their dream of becoming NBA superstars. This award-winning documentary was filmed over a period of five years.
